The Senior Accountant manages delivery of financial and accounting to Ambler Metals. A key component of the role is the development and preparation of the financial reports, monthly reporting packages, variance analysis and the assistance with banking, payroll and the annual budgeting process. The role is accountable for delivery of the full cycle accounting and financial reporting

This position is based in Ambler Metals office in Anchorage. We offer a competitive pay and benefits package.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration or relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation, with at least 7 years years' work experience in various areas of accounting and finance, including management experience
  • Experience with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation
  • Proven track record of working with both internal and external key stakeholders to develop and deliver shared deliverables
  • Ability to identify and work with external stakeholders to develop partnerships and key project alliances
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skill in presenting information clearly and in a tactful manner
  • Skill in problem solving and establishing collaborative relationships
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 300, Microsoft Office, and internal control systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as take direction from supervisor
  • Ability to be flexible with time and methods and adaptable to change
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties and tasks
  • Ability to work in a confidential manner
  • Ability to exercise good judgement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage outsourced functions such as banking and payroll
  • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting process
  • Prepare the monthly financial management reports
  • Coordinate and direct the financial forecasts and report variance
  • Prepare the financial reporting packages for the members
  • Support the overall internal controls system of the company and the requirements of the members
  • Assist the Vice President Finance in the preparation of the budgets
  • Support the Vice President Finance in ad hoc reporting and projects as necessary
