The site monitor looks after the security and integrity of the Bornite exploration camp during the off-season. This is a part-time, seasonal position.

Due to travel restrictions, applications from those living in Kobuk, Alaska will be considered. Use of personal vehicle or ATV will be required and a travel stipend will be provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Property Security

  • Patrol grounds to ensure the security of company property
  • Monitor for and report unauthorized entry, vandalism and theft of company property
  • Report the unauthorized use of company equipment and fuel

Environmental Monitoring

  • Provide photos of key areas of camp
  • Document and report fuel spills
  • Document the condition of bulk fuel containers

Safety

  • Exercise sound judgement on environmental conditions before commencing trip
  • Ensure designated personnel in Kobuk are aware of trip plan
  • Ensure personal vehicle and communication devices are in good operating condition before commencing trip

Communication

  • Complete the provided camp checklist to the designated company contact after each trip
  • File a trip report with the designated individual in Kobuk or another site monitor¬†
  • Report all safety, environmental and security incidents to the company immediately

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skill in operating snow machines and ATVs
  • First-hand knowledge of and familiarity with the Bornite Camp
  • Knowledge of and ability to carry out safe remote operational procedures
  • Ability to deal tactfully with camp staff and visitors
  • Ability to work independently and manage time in an effective manner
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to take initiative in the case of an emergency
  • Ability to travel independently via ATV and snow machine from Kobuk, AK to Bornite Camp
  • Ability to traverse camp grounds, both via ATV and on foot and make visual observations of camp conditions
  • Ability to report and record (verbally in writing) camp conditions and unusual occurrences

WORKING CONDITIONS/TRAVEL

  • Required to work in arctic conditions during the winter months
  • Exposure to inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain, wind as well as extremely warm or cold conditions) is common
  • Travel to site will be via personal snow machine or ATV
  • Must be comfortable and able to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Will be subject to all Ambler Metals, LLC camp policies, including drug and alcohol policy.
